In Luke chapter 4 the Lord Jesus entered the synagogue and read from the book of Isaiah –
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to announce the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send away in release those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, the year of jubilee.”
It is from this proclamation of the gospel as the “the year of jubilee” that we offer these psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to the Lord that He would touch our hearts for others, to proclaim the gospel to them. In the summer of 2019, thousands of college students gathered on the campus of the University of Illinois for the North American College Training and received this same burden. Many consecrated themselves to the Lord to proclaim this gospel. May we all rise up to give ourselves to the Lord for His purpose and fulfill the Lord’s word:
“That you may be blameless and guileless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine as luminaries in the world” – Philippians 2:15.
